TAFE Digital Disability Consultants support students who:

  • are visually impaired
  • are deaf or hard of hearing
  • have an intellectual or learning disability
  • have a neurological disability/acquired brain injury
  • have physical disability or medical condition/chronic illness
  • have mental illness.

Assistive Technology

TAFE Digital Disability Consultants can provide:

  • information on apps and software that can help you access your course
  • specialised software programs such as text to speech or voice recognition software (for loan)
  • adaptive devices to assist you to access your learning environment (for loan)
  • course materials in a range of formats.

Disclosing your disability

There are benefits to doing so. These include access to Disability Support services and appropriate adjustments to assist you to be successful with your studies.

What do I need to provide to get support from the Disability Support Service?

You will need to provide information regarding your disability. All information and documentation will be treated confidentially.

Do I have to register with the TAFE Digital Disability Support Service at the beginning of my course?

It is best to discuss the support you may need before or at the beginning of your enrolment, but you can register for support at any time during your course.

TAFE Digital welcomes enquiries through the National Relay Service (NRS).

The NRS helps people who are Deaf or who have a hearing or speech impairment get in contact with TAFE Digital by phone.

  • TTY or computer with modem users phone the NRS on 133677 then request the TAFE Digital number you need.
  • Speak and Listen (Speech to Speech relay) Users phone 1300 555 727 then request the number you need.
